Mandated Reporting & Discipline

Child Abuse and Neglect 

All staff at Leatherwood Academy are mandated reporters.  If we suspect abuse or neglect, through observations or conversations, we are required to call ChildLine.

Discipline and Positive Guidance 

In our program, each child will be treated with respect, for we encourage conflict resolution where children are supported in working out their own behavior issues.  

We will encourage children to be independent, and we will use developmentally appropriate strategies when intervention is needed.  We also say, “no” and expect children to follow the schedule, basic rules, and planned activities for their class.  

Time out will be used when behavior is not redirected through other means.
