Attendance & Truancy

According to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, nonpublic schools are not authorized to exercise “police powers” available to the public districts.  Therefore, we will follow the attendance policies implemented in the residing districts and follow the truancy protocol for Clarion County.

• Parental excuses must be received within 3 days of student absence. After day 3, this will be considered an unexcused absence. 

• Each student is allotted 10 parental excuses during each school year. A letter will be sent home after 8 parental excuses informing parents that a Doctors Excuse will be required after 10 parental excuses during any school year. 

• Excessive absences and/or unexcused absences will be reported to our local public school district for further action.

Health Policy

Children suffering from ailments that are contagious or include a fever are not permitted to attend class until they are cleared by a doctor or are fever free, without medication, for 24 hours.  Medical excuses can be emailed to missnichole@leatherwoodacademy.org, faxed to 814-275-1052, or sent to school with your child.
